OH GOD. OH GOD. OH GOD
Oh no I’m cry
EVEN MORE TOO MUCH PONY
Some of these doodles are brand new and some old, enjoy.
So I heard you guys like ponies.
Holy crap you did all of them?!
Did I really just tag all of these?
It is good advice.
I don’t think females who dislike the term “Brony” are stupid. At the same time though, I don’t really like the term “Pegasister”, either.
Here’s how I see it: The term Brony isn’t sexist just because it’s “masculine”. ( btw, females that call themselves “bro” don’t automatically make the term any less masculine, it just means they don’t mind being called “bro”. That is all.) The sexism stems from how the term was first coined as a way to separate male fans from something innately girly. (which would imply that “girly = bad”)
The fact that it just sort of stuck as the default term for everyone, (whether you’re comfortable with it or not) just makes it all the more sexist, even if just a teeny-tiny bit. (even more so if nobody bothers to acknowledge the sexist connotations)
When I think of the term Brony and its origins, I think that the guys who came up with it had this sort of mind set: “Oh, we’re not Pony fans! We’re BRONIES, man! BRONIES! Its like “Pony” but more manly sounding! WE’RE MANLY! Just because we like a girly show doesn’t make us girly! HOW DARE YOU IMPLY SUCH A THING!? GIRLYNESS IS HORRIBLE AND DISGUSTING!”- such a thought process is misogynistic and comes from a “be conventionally manly, son; or else!” sort of upbringing.
“Pegasister” on the other hand is the deviation from the default, even if “Brony” does embrace both sexes nowadays. (Its funny though; how maculine terms are almost always the default, and female terms are just the deviation from the default…)
If it were up to me, I’d get rid of both “Pegasister” & “Brony” and come up with something more gender-neutral, like “Ponies”, “Pony fans”, “FiM fans”, or- in homage to Lauren Faust’s first acknowledgment of the fandom- “Comrades”. (Even if its a /co/ thing)
TL;DR: Brony isn’t “unisex”, and both Brony & Pegasister are gendered terms. We may or may not need something more Gender-neutral. Also Comrades. Just thought I’d toss that out there.
…and that’s how Equestria was made!
I liked her in the Sister hooves social because she learned how to accept not getting every little thing she wants, but in Sweet and Elite and Secret to my Excess She was able to get away with lieing like a dog to all her friends, and still getting away with it, able to con spikes birthday dinner without ANY remorse for it whatsoever.
That “Gem Conning” thing is tricky - we don’t know if Rarity actually did all of that eyelash batting or if Spike imagined it.
In S&E, Yeah, I’m peeved too that she lied and didn’t have to apologize for it.
Seeing her drawn as a Caucasian just feels incorrect.
Hey, there’s NO CORRECT way to portray Twilight.
You can portray her as ANY RACE that you please, just don’t put down others for portraying her differently.
I like Black!Twilight Sparkle, but I don’t yell at anyone who portrays her as any other race.
This. I love the fact that people want to make a POC the main character in a humanized way, but some people imagine her White or Asian, and that’s cool. NO one is right.
It’s when they think that the Mane 6 would all be White because of their mannerisms and attitudes where the problem lies.
Ho my sweet Jesus.
“Oh, it’s on like Donkey Kong.”
This just came on my laptop screen.
(& I Found how to print from it! Partay!)
