IT WILL ALWAYS BE TOO FUCKING SOON

Not soon enough, in my opinion.

But can we just look at the amount of love that must be present in Lin Bei Fong? At the amount of love she must have for Tenzin? I think the love story between Tenzin and Lin, though unrequited, has to be the most beautiful in the Avatar universe. This is a woman who didn’t think twice about sacrificing herself to save the family she was denied. Can you imagine the pain of losing Tenzin to a woman fifteen years younger than herself? Their relationship was probably older than Pema. Then she sees Tenzin’s family grow and I can’t even imagine how painful that would be.

And I think it’s painfully obvious she’s still in love with him. She may have had different goals, and they may have lost their connection, but it was probably Tenzin who was drifting away. Based on what we’ve seen her do, it was not Lin that ended the relationship. It was not mutual. She never stopped loving him. She loves him so much that she would not think twice about protecting his wife, that she would share his joy in meeting his new son, that she would sacrifice her strength, her identity, her freedom and the ability to protect Republic City for him. She said that the only thing she cared about was protecting the city and by not saying where Korra was, she did that, but she can’t protect it with her own two hands anymore. Sure, she could learn non-bender styles of fighting but she’s been training as an earth/metalbender since she was a child. She has to start all over again.

I have been depressed to the point of tears all day because I keep thinking about how much she’s lost. She’s lost the love of her life (you can’t convince me otherwise), she’s lost her job that she rightfully inherited from her mother, she lost her bending which I can’t even begin to comprehend how absolutely horrifying that would be. It would be like forgetting how to walk or it would be like being a witch/wizard then being turned into a Muggle. She gave that all up for Tenzin and his family. She knows that they have to repopulate the airbenders for the next generation of avatars and she voluntarily gives up the only thing she really has to help save the world. She would have given her life if it had come to that, hell, it might have!

I sincerely hope that next week Korra figures out a way to restore bending. I don’t even care if it’s a cop out because having Lin not have her bending would just hurt the show. Lin was already like 80% of the badass on the show and just…we need her to have her bending. We need Lin. I just hate seeing a character with so much love in her heart be stripped of everything. I’m grateful she’s alive but I really, really hope Bryke will restore Lin’s bending. She deserves that and she deserves someone that will love her as much as Tenzin should have.

God bless you if you read this whole thing. Also, fandom, after this episode, I couldn’t care less about what the fuck happens with Mako and his dumbass ways. I say cut all that shit out and put the focus on Lin. We need 100% more Bei Fong.

I think Bosami is going to be a thing though.

i totally agree that lin is 80% of the awesome, and that her relationship with her ex is portrayed in a really fucking moving way - much more so than the mess that is the teenager love triangle, haha - BUUUUT i really do not buy ” that she would sacrifice her strength, her identity, her freedom and the ability to protect Republic City for him.” no. no. she was willing to sacrifice everything to protect republic city FOR REPUBLIC CITY. they’re HER PEOPLE. … and saving tenzin’s family/the only living airbenders? that’s part of her work. granted, it is fraught with the emotional pain and love you pointed out in your post, but… I SHIP LIN/REPUBLIC CITY OKAY. but yeah i agree, we need much more of lin bei fong on this show, now more than ever. i’m not sure what is going end up happening with the does-amon-REALLY-take-their-bending-for-good thing but even if lin’s bending is gone forever, she is easily the most amazing character on the show right now.

I just realized that Katara hasn’t seen or talked to her mother in 78 years.

Everyone wants her and Aang to be reunited, but I just want her to see Kya again.

So I just watched the entire latest Korra episode in the following manner;
